We were delighted to welcome the Revd Richard Coles to the Goldmark Front Room on 19th November 2014.

The Revd Richard Coles is a regular presenter on BBC Radio 4’s Saturday Live and was part of the 80’s pop duo The Communards, with Jimmy Somerville, famous for ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’, the biggest-selling single of 1986. Richard frequently appears on panel shows including QI and Have I Got News For You and is also one of the inspirations for the character of Adam Smallbone in BBC2’s sitcom Rev, and for Bridget’s gay friend Tom in Bridget Jones’s Diary.

With searing honesty and humour Richard spoke about his pilgrimage from a sheltered middle-England upbringing to London’s gay scene, from a rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle of sex and drugs and the band’s tours and tantrums, to a life devoted to God and Christianity.
